Hello everyone! It’s now 2010, and I’m sure we all have set hair goals and dreams that we would like to achieve by the end of the year. In order for use to do so, we have essentially take better, much better care of our hair. This means we need to not over abuse it with heat, neglect it in moisture and deep conditioning, we need to eat healthier and exercise if we aren’t already doing so, and so much more. I believe this challenge as a whole will help change not only our practices towards haircare, but our practices towards our bodies. I’m ready to reap the rewards of being diligent and patient with my hair. Are you?

Here’s the challenge:

The rules are simple:

  • Deep condition at least once per week, no exceptions!- (30 mins with the use of heat cap)
  • Say yes to protective styling (i.e. twists, cornrows (not tightly done), plaits, braids (not tightly done/micros), puffs/buns )- try to limit the puffs as this can damage your edges over time.
  • Dust the ends of your hair when it is needed and do NOT let the damage go on.
  • Always keep hair moisturized by use of whatever moisturizer you have that works for your hair
  • If you have thinning egdes..take action, start caring them and getting them back, using things like castor oil etc
  • Give your scalp a massage often!- 15 minutes a day is good
  • Try to avoid the heat if you can…this is not mandatory but if possible please avoid the heat. 1 heat pass for each segment!!
  • Exercise and eat healthy- run, brisk walk for 30 mins a day, drink a lot of water and get adequate sleep!
  • And lastly- laugh it up often- keep stress levels at bay by surrounding yourself in joy. You’ll be surprised how much more this affects.

Check Ins: (Every 3 months) 4 Segments in total

  • End of March, End of June, End of Sept, End of Dec.

Happy Hair Growing, and don’t forget..it’s all about Taking Better Care of Your Hair! If anyone is interested in joining me on this venture..and even if you’re not able to participate, the support and possible advice will be very helpful. Those interested in joining..use the following form:
